Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion now available through Indiana University Press
Bloomington, IN May 27, 2004 -— The Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion (JFSR) is now published by Indiana University Press (IUP). IUP's first issue, volume 20, number 1 (Spring 2004), is a special issue in honor of Mercy Amba Oduyoye and is now available.
The Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion, the oldest interdisciplinary, inter-religious feminist academic journal in religious studies, is a channel for the publication of feminist scholarship in religion and a forum for discussion and dialogue among women and men of differing feminist perspectives. The journal has two parents: the academy, in which it is situated, and the feminist movement, from which it draws its nourishment and vision. Its editors are committed to rigorous thinking and analysis in the service of the transformation of religious studies as a discipline and the feminist transformation of religious and cultural institutions. Founded in 1985, it is published twice a year in spring and fall.
JFSR regularly includes:
•Critical and constructive articles
•Path-breaking essays by leading scholars that transgress disciplinary boundaries
•Reports and critical reflections on the development and practices of feminist studies and movements within religions around the world
•Dialogues and debates among different feminist voices engaging controversial or methodological issues
•Creative works such as artwork, poetry and creative writing
•Article-length review essays on recent works
